There’s no better way to make a positive impact on your community than becoming a mentor for Freshman Founders. Freshman Founders is a action-oriented program that teach freshman how to be entrepreneurs. Mentors get the opportunity to work with and mold the minds of some of the most inspired and motivated students at UT. These students are looking to learn how to become entrepreneurs, and we’re looking for professional entrepreneurs to help them do that. Think of how you felt as a student at their age, and the experiences that you have that could help them learn about entrepreneurship.
There are a couple of different ways that you can get involved:
Networking events: We’ll be holding several events throughout the year, and we are always looking for professionals to attend so that our students can learn from your experiences and network with local entrepreneurs. It is a flexible commitment because the events are scattered throughout the year. This option is a great way to meet and connect with students, as well as other entrepreneurs, all while managing your busy schedule.
Mentorship: If you’re looking to make a bigger impact, we are also searching for mentors to meet with our students on a more regular basis. These students have ideas for businesses of their own, and we match them up with mentors that can help them execute their ideas and assist them as they learn how to be entrepreneurs. Speaking from experience, it can be very rewarding for both students and mentors. We are looking for mentors who can provide the time necessary to create a maximum impact on the students and their entrepreneurial endeavors. If you are concerned about not having enough time to be a mentor, we encourage you to come out to networking events instead.
Whichever route you choose; we would be thrilled to have you on board! This is a great opportunity to get involved with the UT community and making an impact on these young, motivated college students.
